“Through this framework and 5-year roadmap, we want to ensure that the implementation of sustainability initiatives and projects within Cyberjaya further its status as the preferred sustainable investment destination for global investors in the tech sector and increase the vibrancy of the city’s communities,” said Cyberview Acting Manager Director Dr Mohd Hafiz Ibrahim.

According to the Cyberview framework and 5-year roadmap, these efforts will be overseen by a sustainable steering committee. Environmental efforts will include developing Cyberjaya into a low-carbon and smart city through energy efficiency initiatives, sustainable buildings and city designs and sustainable waste management and support activities to promote circular economy.

In addition, social initiatives under the ESG framework will be geared toward fostering a high-performance workforce and robust communities.

Meanwhile, Cyberview’s effort towards better governance will promote ethical and transparent practices within the organisation.

“Our framework maps out where Cyberview can add the most value, to have a long-lasting impact. We will focus on six United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs),” Hafiz said.

The six UNSDGs mentioned in the framework are Affordable and Clean Energy (SDG 7), Decent Work and Economic Growth, Industry (SDG 8), Innovation and Infrastructure (SDG 9), Sustainable Cities and Communities (SDG 11), Climate Action (SDG 13) and Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions (SDG 16).

The tech hub developer will also implement their ESG framework in a collaborative ecosystem alongside key strategic partners such as the United Nations Compact Network Malaysia & Brunei, 30% Club Malaysia, KDEB Waste Management Sdn Bhd and Kloth Malaysia Sdn Bhd for its efforts within and outside Cyberjaya to operationalise ESG for stakeholders’ value creation.

Cyberview also said the framework was consistent with its past efforts in ensuring the development of Cyberjaya was sustainable, which include increasing the efficiency of public service and city living, improving the quality of life and creating a safe city and improving the standard of environmental sustainability within Cyberjaya.
