Indonesian SME Expo Kicks Off in Malaysia

The ambassador of Republic of Indonesia to Malaysia H.E. Rusdi Kirana on Friday officially kicked off the Indonesia Creative Product Festival (ICPF) 2018 at Putra World Trade Center in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

“I once told President Joko Widodo that SME sector is a key component to drive the national economy,” said Ambassador Rusdi Kirana in his opening remarks.


He continued, Indonesia and Malaysia are destined to have a close relationship in many sectors. “I’m eager to create more sister cities between both countries, in addition to Kinabalu-Manado and Medan-Penang,” said Rusdi.

The ICPF 2018 is organized by the cluster of Indonesian state-owned enterprises focusing on media and publishing sectors, National Publishing and News Corporation (NPNC) that consists of Antara News Agency, Balai Pustaka, and Percetakan Negara Republik Indonesia (PNRI).

Chairman of ICPF 2018 Achmad Fachrodji said that the expo is one of the efforts presented by the Ministry of State Owned Enterprises of Indonesia to take Indonesian SMEs to a whole new level. “Celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Ministry, this is one of its efforts to introduce the Indonesian creative industry to the world,” he added.

Eighty Indonesian SMEs were present to showcase their respective uniqueness to at least 10,000 visitors in ICPF 2018

The event kick-off was attended by a number of Indonesian government and enterprises representatives, such as the Special Staff of the Minister of Trade Eva Yuliana, CEO of Balai Pustaka which also serves as the chairman of ICPF 2018 Achmad Fachrodji, and the delegation of the Embassy of Indonesia in Malaysia as well as the invitees from Malaysian enterprises such as General Manager of BERNAMA (Malaysian National News Agency) Datuk Zulkefli Salleh and Senior Manager of ASEAN Oceania Section, Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), Mr Ahmad Nasaruddin Nur.
