PETRONAS recently launched its latest webfilm and TV commercial to usher in the lunar New Year. This year the campaign will reach out to a global audience, to convey a message of love, forgiveness and reconciliation.
Titled “A Long Way Home’, the webfilm tells the story of a young man, Seong and his father as they journey home to celebrate the New Year with the family. During the trip, tension rises and an argument ensues between both of them.
Amidst the altercation, Seong, ridden with guilt, experiences flashbacks, recalling fond memories he shared with his father while growing up.
The story highlights a common yet relatable issue of generational gap, and differences of views between parents and their children. More often than not, these differences can be resolved by a willingness to accept new ways and embrace each other’s perspectives and views.
Commenting about the new webfilm, PETRONAS Senior General Manager of Group Strategic Communications, Zahariah (Liza) Abdul Rahman said, “PETRONAS is delighted to kick start 2018 with another moving and thought-provoking webfilm to celebrate Chinese New Year. Through these webfilms and our festive communications over the last two decades, PETRONAS has been able to reach out and connect with our audiences with messages that focus on universal values that all of us can relate to”.
“This year we have expanded our festive messages to reach a global audience in line with our global branding efforts. What better way to connect with our viewers then through our festive campaigns,” she added.
