As announced by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, the initiative is anticipated to contribute 22.6% of Malaysia’s gross domestic product (GDP), while creating 500,000 new jobs.

“The combination of 5G capabilities with latest technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, advanced analytics and blockchain will support the digital transformation of many Malaysian industries,” said Hong.

He added that the availability of 5G connectivity will re-ignite Industry 4.0 (4IR) adoption among local businesses.

“4IR readiness is an important priority for businesses to embrace cutting-edge digital technologies to realise productivity and efficiency gains,” said Hong. “It will further accelerate the transformation of local businesses into becoming ‘intelligent enterprises’, which in turn empowers them to deliver superior experiences that drive success in the new economy.”

“Businesses can ‘innovate and transform’ with intelligent technologies so as to elevate their competitiveness levels following disruptions caused by Covid-19,” added Hong.

SAP’s support to Malaysia’s Digital Economy

At its end, SAP shall continue supporting nation-building efforts especially aligned with the government’s blueprint of improving citizen services, improving government efficiencies, and transforming businesses.

SAP has a clear intelligent government framework and roadmap that outlines what’s needed to provide, protect and prosper in today’s digital society,” said Hong.

The four priorities of success, according to the framework, revolves around putting the citizen (rakyat) at the centre on policy mandates, improving the use of data as an asset, supporting the workforce of the future, and re-imaging business processes and model.

“With these attributes, the public sector would be more proactive, foresighted and automated – all supported by intelligent technologies such as AI, machine learning, advanced analytics and internet-of-things,” Hong explained.

“SAP supports comprehensive coverage of the complete public sector value chain across the enterprise. With this clear industry roadmap, SAP is focused to be the strategy partner of choice for the public sector.”

Today more than 13,000 public sector organisations in 97 countries innovate with SAP, which is aligned to SAP’s vision of helping the world run better and improve people’s lives.
