In line with the nation’s digital transformation agenda, the State Government of Terengganu and Huawei Malaysia exchanged a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly design the State’s Digital Transformation Roadmap. The exchange ceremony took place at Huawei’s first Asia Pacific Innovation Day in Kuala Lumpur and was attended by Terengganu State Secretary, YB. Dato’ Wan Nawawi Bin Hj. The Roadmap aims to bring latest digital technologies and ICT solutions to the State, with Huawei providing technical expertise and business support in implementing the transformation plan. The plan will capitalize on four main ICT-enablers: Broadband infrastructure, Cloud infrastructure, Innovation, and Human capital.
The partnership will see the building of cost effective ICT infrastructure and data centers promoting faster and stable broadband connection with a wider range of coverage. With this the State will be able to leverage on Internet of Things and the use of smart application platforms to implement digital solutions across vertical industries such as education, transportation, healthcare, retail, security, industrial factories, smart homes, energy grids and others. This project will also include open sharing of ICT knowledge through a state wide training program in hopes to drive socio-economic development.
The State of Terengganu has produced high-achieving students based on their track record of achieving high scores during national exams. At present, the State has a total of 12 public and private educational institutions, some representing tertiary level education. A comprehensive and complete curriculum will help improve the State’s skilled talent pool in which ultimately will stimulate further economic development and growth from this region.

Wan Ismail remarked, “Connectivity is important in the socio-economic development of Terengganu, along with nurturing of digital talents and fostering a digital mindset.
